Since 1961, the American Heart Association (AHA) has recommended improving dietary patterns to protect cardiovascular health. In recent years, as consumer awareness of health has grown, nutritional supplements have become an increasingly important approach to supporting and maintaining cardiovascular well-being.
Coenzyme Q10 -- A Star Ingredient in Cardiovascular Nutrition
In the cardiovascular nutrition market, Coenzyme Q10 is undoubtedly the star ingredient. According to data from Magic Mirror Insight, from January 2024 to March 2025, the total online sales of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular-related supplements across China's three major e-commerce platforms (Tmall, JD.com, and Douyin) reached RMB 7.74 billion, representing an 18.4% year-on-year increase; sales volume hit 30.38 million units, up 34.1% year-on-year. Coenzyme Q10 (41.4%) and fish oil (26.5%) together accounted for nearly 70% of the market. From a market trend perspective, the consumer base of Coenzyme Q10 is becoming younger, particularly among sub-healthy young adults.
Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10), also known as ubiquinone or ubidecarenone, is a compound that integrates medical and nutritional benefits. It has antioxidant properties, activates cellular respiration, and enhances the immune system. CoQ10 is widely applied in cardiovascular health, anti-aging, and energy supplementation. In June 2021, the Catalog of Five Health Food Raw Materials Including Coenzyme Q10 was officially implemented, allowing for the nationwide filing of health food products using CoQ10 and four other ingredients. At present, CoQ10 can be registered with two health claims: 'antioxidant' and 'immune support.' In addition, the Chinese Expert Consensus on the Diagnosis and Treatment of Fulminant Myocarditis in Adults points out that all patients with fulminant myocarditis should receive general symptomatic and supportive treatment, which may include creatine phosphate and Coenzyme Q10 to improve myocardial energy metabolism.
Co-Loading Liposomal CoQ10: Significantly Enhancing the Bioavailability and Absorption of Coenzyme Q10
Although Coenzyme Q10 offers significant health benefits, its application has long been limited by low bioavailability and slow absorption. After more than a decade of continuous R&D investment, Natural Field has successfully developed Liposomal CoQ10 and Co-Loading Liposomal CoQ10, which significantly enhance intestinal absorption and systemic bioavailability, providing an innovative solution for this class of products.
NFLipo® Co-Loading Liposomal CoQ10 employs rare-type ginsenosides as membrane constituents, substantially improving liposomal stability and biocompatibility. This design not only maximizes the antioxidant properties of CoQ10 but also leverages the unique immune-modulating functions of rare ginsenosides, achieving a dual synergistic effect. Conventional liposomes, composed of phosphatidylcholine and cholesterol, are vesicular carriers capable of encapsulating both hydrophilic and lipophilic compounds. While effective as delivery systems, they are limited by single-component formulations, narrow functionality, and restricted drug-loading capacity-making them more suitable for low-dose compounds or dietary supplements.
Animal studies data show that compared with conventional CoQ10, co-loadingliposomal CoQ10 exhibits approximately a threefold increase in bioavailability. In Caco-2 cell transport experiments simulating intestinal absorption, the transport rate of co-loadingCoQ10 showed a 7.86-fold increase. These results indicate that co-loading liposomes significantly enhance the absorption and bioavailability of CoQ10.
Cardioprotective and Anti-Inflammatory EffectsNFLipo® Co-loading Liposomal CoQ10:Cardioprotective and Anti-Inflammatory Effects
1) Cardioprotective Effect
To verify the efficacy of Co-loading Liposomal CoQ10, researchers from the Laboratory of Targeted Drug Delivery Systems, School of Pharmacy, Southwest University conducted experiments using C57BL/6 mice. Myocardial injury was induced via isoproterenol (ISO) injection to simulate a human cardiac injury model. The mice were randomly divided into several groups, including the control group, ISO model group, ordinary liposome group, ginsenoside liposome group, CoQ10-ginsenoside co-loading liposomes group, and CoQ10 soft capsule group. Multiple techniques such as echocardiography, serum marker detection, and oxidative stress marker testing were used to comprehensively evaluate the cardioprotective effects of different treatment groups.

The experimental results showed that the cardiac function of mice in the ISO model group decreased significantly, as evidenced by the significant reduction in left ventricular ejection fraction (EF) and fractional shortening (FS). After intervention with CoQ10-ginsenoside co-loading liposomes, these indicators were significantly improved, and the effect was better than that of commercially available CoQ10 soft capsules. This indicates that Co-loading Liposomal CoQ10 can not only effectively reverse the impairment of cardiac function but also provide more long-lasting and significant protective effects.
Further serum analysis found that the levels of ISO-induced myocardial injury markers, such as cardiac troponin I (cTnI) and B-type natriuretic peptide (BNP), increased significantly. However, Co-loading Liposomal CoQ10 could significantly inhibit the increase in these markers, demonstrating their significant role in improving myocardial injury. In addition, the detection results of oxidative stress markers (such as malondialdehyde MDA and lactate dehydrogenase LDH) also showed that Co-loading Liposomal CoQ10 could effectively alleviate oxidative stress responses and reduce cell membrane damage, further verifying its cardioprotective effect.

2) Anti-inflammatory Effect
The experiment also tested the regulatory effect of CoQ10 on cardiac inflammation. The study found that the levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines (such as IL-6, IL-1β, and TNF-α) in the serum of mice in the ISO group increased significantly, while Co-loading Liposomal CoQ10 could significantly reduce the levels of these cytokines, indicating its significant advantage in anti-inflammation. In particular, compared with commercially available CoQ10 soft capsules,Co-loading Liposomal CoQ10 showed a stronger effect in inhibiting inflammatory responses.
