What is phycocyanin
Phycocyanin is a water-soluble phycobiliprotein complex with a strong blue color, belonging to the family of phycobiliproteins. Phycocyanin is a photosynthetic pigment obtained from cyanobacteria and certain algae (such as Rhodophyta and Cryptophyta), and is the main pigment of Spirulina. It is composed of two subunits (α and β chains) combined with phycocyanobilin.
