Physcion, an anthraquinone, is found in several plant sources, including Microsporum, Psorospermum, Rhamnus, and Rheum.
Physcion has the funciton of anticancer, antibiotic, and anti-inflammatory activities.
In cervical carcinoma cells, physcion also exhibits antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus, Pseudomonas, and Escherichia, as well as antifungal activity against Candida and Aspergillus. In animal models, physcion inhibits iNOS expression and decreases edema volume.
Physcion has inhibitory effects on 26 strains of Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Streptococcus and Shigella. In addition, it has a mutation in the Salmonella test and has a cervical cancer cell. It has a strong inhibitory effect and can also be used as a laxative.
